Seiko's affordable output is organised into three lines that matter here. 5 Sports is the entry point: mechanical watches built around the 4R family, priced against quartz competitors. Prospex covers sport and dive watches, including ISO 6425 certified divers. Presage is the dress line, and the range where Seiko's dial-making shows most clearly. The common thread is that Seiko builds the movement, which is why a $195 Seiko has a hacking automatic when competitors at the price use bought-in calibers or quartz.
