G-Shock
G-Shock is Casio's shock-resistance programme, launched in 1983 around a single requirement: survive a ten-metre drop. Four decades later it remains the reference for durability at any price.

Two references define the modern line for most buyers. The GA-2100 brought the case height down to 11.8 mm, making a G-Shock wearable under a cuff for the first time, and its octagonal bezel gave the brand a design that reached beyond its traditional audience. The GW-M5610U keeps the original 1983 square shape and adds Tough Solar charging with Multi Band 6 radio sync, producing a watch that requires no battery, no winding and no time setting.
Strengths
- Shock resistance and 200 m water resistance as standard across the line
- Tough Solar and radio sync remove all maintenance on many references
- Extremely light — most models are under 60 g
- Forty years of parts availability and service
Watch out for
- Mineral crystals on most affordable references
- Resin cases show wear where steel would not
- Digital displays have low contrast in dim light
- Integrated straps limit customisation without adapters
