Veredicto rápido
Everything that makes the PRX good — the case, the bracelet, the sapphire, the proportions — is present here for $395. What you give up is the movement. If you want the design rather than the mechanics, this is the more rational purchase of the two.

Diseño
Visually identical to the Powermatic 80 apart from dial text and 0.5 mm of case height. The same tonneau case, the same integrated bracelet, the same applied indices.
Movimiento
The ETA F06.115 is a Swiss quartz caliber with an end-of-life battery indicator. It requires no winding and no attention beyond a battery change every few years.
Calidad de construcción
Identical construction to the automatic: 100 m, sapphire, the same finishing on case and bracelet. Nothing about the build distinguishes the cheaper reference.
Esfera
The same applied indices and textured dial as the automatic, with a date at three. Dial text differs, which is the only way to tell the two apart at a glance.
Brazalete y correa
The same integrated bracelet and the same butterfly clasp without micro-adjustment.
Comodidad y ergonomía
At 10.4 mm and 132 g this is the easiest watch here to forget you are wearing. The 0.5 mm and 20 g it saves over the automatic are noticeable.
Precisión
Swiss quartz calibers of this class are typically specified within a small number of seconds per month, against tens of seconds per day for any mechanical watch in this database.
Lo que nos gusta
Lo que nos gusta
- 10.4 mm — the thinnest watch in this database
- Identical case, bracelet and sapphire crystal to the automatic
- Quartz accuracy, with no winding and no reserve to manage
- Roughly $330 less than the Powermatic 80 version
Lo que no nos gusta
- No mechanical movement, which is the point of the PRX for many buyers
- Same butterfly clasp with no micro-adjustment
- Resale interest is lower than the automatic
¿Quién debería comprarlo?
Anyone who wants the PRX design at the lowest price, anyone who prefers not to manage a power reserve, and anyone buying a second watch that has to be right when they pick it up.
¿Quién debería descartarlo?
Skip it if the mechanical movement is the reason you want a watch at all. The 80-hour reserve is the Powermatic 80's headline feature and it is genuinely useful.

Veredicto final
The best-value entry into the PRX line, and the one that makes the strongest case on specification alone. Whether that matters depends entirely on why you are buying a watch.

Preguntas frecuentes
Is the quartz PRX made to a lower standard than the automatic?
No. The case, bracelet, crystal and water resistance are shared. The difference is the movement and 0.5 mm of case height.
How often does the battery need replacing?
Swiss quartz calibers of this type are generally specified for several years per battery, and the movement includes an end-of-life indicator that steps the seconds hand to warn you.
