Timex's advantage is its own archive. The Marlin and Q Timex reissues reproduce mid-century designs closely enough that they read as vintage watches rather than as watches styled to look old.

The Marlin Automatic is the most interesting thing Timex makes at this price: a period-correct dress case with an automatic movement and an acrylic crystal for around $250. What Timex does not offer is specification depth — published accuracy figures, sapphire crystals and meaningful water resistance are largely absent. It is a brand bought for character, and it is honest about that.
