Veredicto rápido
For more than a decade the Bambino has been the standing answer to the cheapest automatic dress watch worth owning, and the specification explains why: a domed crystal, applied markers and a slim bezel at a price that undercuts most quartz alternatives. The compromise is a movement that neither hacks nor winds by hand.

Diseño
A narrow polished bezel leaves almost the entire case face to the dial, which is why the Bambino presents larger and more formal than 40.5 mm suggests. The crystal domes enough to distort the chapter ring off-axis, a vintage effect normally found several hundred dollars higher.
Movimiento
The F6724 is the older, simpler Orient caliber — 21,600 vph, 40 hours, no hacking and no manual winding. Starting it requires wrist motion, and the seconds hand cannot be stopped to set the time precisely.
Calidad de construcción
The case is well polished but built from thinner material than the Kamasu, and the crown is push-pull, which is where the 30 m rating comes from. An exhibition caseback shows a plainly finished movement.
Esfera
A champagne base with applied roman numerals and a printed minute track, and blued hands that read almost black indoors and turn genuinely blue in daylight. It is the most formal configuration Orient offers in the line, and the reason this reference is the one most people picture when the Bambino is mentioned.
Brazalete y correa
The supplied leather is thin and stiff, and the 21 mm lug width is awkward — most straps are made in 20 or 22 mm. Replacements in 21 mm do exist, and the watch responds well to a softer strap.
Comodidad y ergonomía
At 68 g and 12.2 mm it is close to weightless, though the domed crystal adds apparent height. The 47 mm lug-to-lug is the constraint on very small wrists; the 38 mm Bambino variants exist for that reason.
Precisión
Orient publishes -25 to +35 seconds per day for the F6724. Because the movement does not hack, the practical setting precision is a few seconds regardless of how well the watch is regulated.
Lo que nos gusta
Lo que nos gusta
- Domed crystal and applied indices at an entry-level price
- Thin polished bezel gives the dial almost the full case width
- 68 g on leather — one of the lightest automatics available
- Champagne dial with blue hands and roman numerals, a combination almost nobody offers at the price
- Sold alongside a black-dial sibling, TAC0000AB0, for anyone who wants the same case in a plainer register
Lo que no nos gusta
- The F6724 neither hacks nor hand-winds
- 30 m water resistance covers rain only
- 21 mm lug width limits off-the-shelf strap choice
¿Quién debería comprarlo?
First-time mechanical buyers, and anyone who needs a formal watch a handful of times a year without committing real money to it.
¿Quién debería descartarlo?
Skip it if you want to set the time to the second or wind the watch by hand — later Bambino references using the F6722 caliber do both. Skip it if the watch will get wet.

Veredicto final
The Bambino remains the cheapest way into mechanical watchmaking that still looks deliberate rather than compromised. Check the caliber before buying: the version number alone does not tell you whether it hacks.

Preguntas frecuentes
Does the Bambino hack or hand-wind?
Version 2 with the F6724 does neither. Later references using the F6722 caliber add both. Check the caliber rather than the version number before ordering.
What strap size does the Bambino take?
21 mm, which is unusual. A 20 mm strap fits with a small visible gap; 22 mm will not fit.
