For swimming, 100 m with a screw-down crown is sufficient. For recreational scuba, look for 200 m and ideally ISO 6425 certification. Anything rated 30 or 50 m is not a swimming watch.
It is the international dive-watch standard, covering water resistance under static and dynamic pressure, thermal shock, magnetic and shock resistance, strap attachment strength and legibility in darkness. Only certified watches may display the word DIVER'S.
