Veredicto rápido
The GW-M5610U is the most self-sufficient watch here. Tough Solar means no battery; Multi Band 6 means it corrects itself against an atomic time signal. Once it is on your wrist there is nothing left to do.

Diseño
The original 1983 DW-5000 silhouette, essentially unchanged. It is small, square and utterly functional, and its shape has become one of the most recognisable in watchmaking.
Movimiento
Casio module 3495 with Tough Solar charging and Multi Band 6 radio reception. Casio specifies ±15 seconds per month when out of radio range, and roughly ten months of running from a full charge in darkness.
Calidad de construcción
Resin case with a stainless steel caseback, full G-Shock shock resistance and a 200 m water rating. The U-series added the steel back and an improved display over earlier GW-M5610 references.
Esfera
A conventional LCD with an EL backlight. Contrast is good in daylight and the backlight is adequate rather than bright. It shows the day, date, time and a small mode indicator by default.
Brazalete y correa
Integrated resin, the same as every square G-Shock. Aftermarket resin and steel replacements are widely available because the case has been in production for four decades.
Comodidad y ergonomía
43.2 mm wide, 12.7 mm tall and 53 g. It is small by modern standards and one of the few watches here that genuinely suits every wrist size.
Precisión
Within range of a radio transmitter it corrects itself automatically. Outside range, Casio specifies ±15 seconds per month.
Lo que nos gusta
Lo que nos gusta
- Solar charging plus radio time sync — it sets itself and never needs a battery
- The original 1983 square case, now with a steel caseback
- 53 g and 12.7 mm
- 200 m water resistance and full G-Shock shock resistance
Lo que no nos gusta
- Purely digital, which not everyone wants
- Radio sync depends on being within range of a transmitter
- The display is functional rather than attractive
¿Quién debería comprarlo?
Anyone who wants a watch that requires nothing — no winding, no battery, no time setting — and anyone who values function over presentation.
¿Quién debería descartarlo?
Skip it if you want hands. The GA-2100 is the analog answer within the same family.

Veredicto final
The most practical watch in this database, and arguably the most complete piece of engineering per dollar. It just happens to be digital.

Preguntas frecuentes
What is Multi Band 6?
Casio's radio time-sync system, which receives atomic clock signals from six transmitters covering Japan, China, North America and Europe. Within range the watch corrects itself automatically.
Does the solar cell wear out?
Casio rates the rechargeable cell for many years of service. It is replaced at a service interval rather than annually like a conventional battery.
